Saddam is dead
This blog, isn't and nor am I, an expert in international politics but I feel I should say something. Saddam was a horrible dictator and I am glad he is now gone. I do fear of this being a martyrdom for the extremist homegrown terrorists in Iraq. I also don't support capital punishment, for many reasons, which are not as simple as it might seem (I'm not a hippy ;).
But I do hope, for our servicemen and women, including my brother, and for many innocent Iraqis this will be a turning point. Turning towards the better.
I am glad he is gone.

So when are they going to hang those other war criminals?
George Bush, the butcher of Baghdad.
Bill Clinton, the Butcher of Belgrade
Tony Blair, the butcher of both.

I hope too that this will be a turning point but I have my doubts. Unless the fundamental dynamics of this conflict are addressed, I fear the worst. I just don't see any application of true wisdom by any of the main actors in this debacle. I hope your brother returns safely and brings with him a little of the wisdom needed to make a better and fairer world.
