Finally!
Yesterday was a great day for the American worker and the American economy, as the House passed a long overdue raise in the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour.

Congratulations. Just for comparison that the minimum wages in Jakarta is now about $80 per month.

You've got it totally backwards. Raising the mini-wage will do much more harm than good. Layoffs are coming, so instead of making less, they'll be making a trip to the unemployment line.
Of course dems want people to be dependent on government, so they throw out these little hikes knowing full well that it will have a negative effect on the companies and the economy, just like tax and interest rate increases do, usually leading to a recession.
Dems feel they'll be able to blame Bush for it. Fat chance. Unemployment under Bush is 4.4 percent, better than Clinton ever had.
Watch as unemployment rises to well over 9 percent in no time at all. Dems will attemt to blame Bush but every voter will know whos' really at fault.
So as usual, dems get it all backwards, then lie to cover up for their screw-ups, just like after 9/11. How many pages did Sandy Berglar steal?
Dems are dumber than crap... really!

Evidently, the moron above forgot to read Adam Smith growing up, so let me explain why raising the minimum wage is good for the economy. There are two main reasons that the economy continues to be sluggish in many sectors: excessive wealth consolidation and excessive consumer interest rates (although health care costs are an increasing issue, too).
By raising the minimum wage (for the first time in decade) we put more money in the hands of people at the bottom of the economic chain, both those at minimum and those who will see raises to stay above minimum. Those people all spend their money.
While there might be a short-term uptick of unemployment, the long-term impact on the economy will be good.
At this point, the GOP just has to shut up about the economy: they've proven they can't manage it and they spend like drunken teenagers, cut taxes for the rich and then leave a mess for someone else to clean up.

You may have celebrated a bit early on this one. The Senate shot this out of the water today. Such a shame really. Can you image having to live off of $5.15 an hour? Just image...really think about how impossible that would be.
